Aside from a new hero and map, Blizzard also announced some new Overwatch skins during BlizzCon 2017. Interestingly enough, these new cosmetic items are actually crossovers with other Blizzard games.
New Overwatch skins on the way
Players love cosmetics, it’s one reason why seasonal events are so popular. Giving characters new costumes is a great way to express themselves in the game, especially if the skin looks amazing. That said, it seems like Blizzard isn’t finished creating cosmetics for Overwatch.
During BlizzCon 2017, they announced that heroes will be getting special crossover skins from other Blizzard titles. Orisa, Torbjorn, Widowmaker, Doomfist, Zarya, and Roadhog will each be getting a special skin early next year. Similarly, the developers are also putting in Mei and Reinhardt’s cinematic costumes in the game.
The best part about this is that they will not be tied to any event. Players can unlock all of these cosmetics via lootboxes, or even buy them for 1,000 in-game credits. Many fans have been requesting for non-event skins and it’s great that Blizzard has decided to deliver.
Blizzard announced the new skins alongside the upcoming map, Blizzard World. The new hybrid map is also a nod to other Blizzard games as it is a theme park based on the gaming company. There are plenty of little easter eggs in the map, so that’s something to look forward to if you are a fan of their other games.
Blizzard claimed that the map will be coming to the Public Test Realm later this week. PC players will be able to try out the new area before it officially launches early next year. Similarly, Moira will also arrive “very soon.”
For now, fans will have to wait for more news regarding the Overwatch skins. You can play the first-person shooter on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
