A Redditor decided to go Overwatch datamining following the recent PTR patch and it seems like he came across some interesting things. Blizzard might be looking into permanent competitive suspensions and more.
Overwatch Datamining strings
Datamining isn’t anything new and a Redditor has recently gone through some of the data in the latest PTR patch. There, he came across some interesting strings that suggest Blizzard is ramping up their penalties when it comes to Competitive Play. There’s one string that indicates “you may no longer participate in Competitive Play matches in the current or future competitive seasons of Overwatch.”
Meanwhile, there are also other strings that serve as warnings for inactivity and griefing. “You have been reported multiple times for Inactivity and/or Griefing, and further reports may result in a gameplay suspension.” Similarly, there are also warnings for abusive chat, indicating if you have been reported many times for it.
Finally, there’s also a new “thank you” prompt for when a player reports someone. It’s unsure if these new features will make it into the game, but it seems likely.
Toxicity in the game
Overwatch has been the target of constant toxicity over the past few months. Many fans are complaining about the community and the many players that destroy it. Toxicity isn’t anything new, but it seems to be at an all-time high in Overwatch.
Blizzard is currently looking into the problem, especially after a Redditor brought the issue to light. They are constantly telling players to use the report system as it will help them monitor negative players. Toxicity can really ruin a fanbase if the developers don’t deal with it.
For now, fans will have to wait for more news regarding the Overwatch datamining results. You can play the first-person team shooter on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
