Many fans speculated that Overwatch hero Moira was nerfed in the latest PTR patch. Blizzard has spoken up and clarified the issue on the game’s official forums.
Moira has been a solid Support hero ever since she joined the live servers last Friday. She adds an interesting twist as a healer as she can also dish out a good amount of damage. Moreover, her secondary fire is a bit forgiving when it comes to aiming an enemy.
That said, many players believed that she was nerfed in the recent PTR patch. Some fans noticed that they had to aim in order for her beam to actually latch on. As we know, her beam isn’t as clingy as Symmetra’s, but it does the job. Interestingly enough, the developers didn’t mention the change in the patch notes. This led to many netizens speculating what was wrong with Moira and if they really nerfed her.

Blizzard decided to clarify the issue in the game’s official forums. Lead Engineer Tim Ford mentioned that they are simply testing out a new targeting system for the hero. “On the PTR, we made a number of improvements to the mechanism that Moira uses to select a target.,” he wrote. This will help players pick out opponents more easily, especially when they are all clumped together.
However, it seems like they stumbled across a few bugs while configuring some of her new targeting systems. They will be testing out a new configuration on the PTR “either late this week or early next” as the current one isn’t working correctly. In line with this, he also thanked the fans for pointing out the issue.
For now, fans will just have to wait for the new targeting system. You can play as Overwatch hero Moira now on the live servers.
