Blizzard has announced a new Overwatch map called Blizzard World earlier at BlizzCon 2017. This is a hybrid map consisting of a control point and payload, similar to that of Eichenwalde and King’s Row.
Blizzard theme park
In line with updating the game with new content, the developers have already shared something fans can look forward to next year. Aside from the Support hero, Moira, fans will be able to escort a payload through a new Overwatch map called Blizzard World.
From its name, the Blizzard-themed battlefield will contain hints from various other games like Heroes of the Storm, Diablo, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Hearthstone. There will be little easter eggs scattered throughout the area, so those are some things you can look forward to finding.
In line with this, Blizzard has now established that the company itself is canon in the Overwatch universe. Despite this, Overwatch itself doesn’t appear as a franchise within its own game. Another allusion to Blizzard games is the fact that Hana Song aka D.Va was actually a pro Starcraft player. Maybe we’ll learn more about her fame in the map?
New Support hero
Aside from a new map, Blizzard also announced that another hero is coming to the game. Moira is a Support character who can heal her allies and damage enemies. Her playstyle revolves around biotic technology and sapping enemy health to fuel her own healing meter.
Following the Mercy nerf, there could be a good chance that Moira will play a big role this competitive season. She hasn’t been patched in the PTR, but fans should probably expect her some time this week. Meanwhile, the new Overwatch map should also be arriving on the test servers around the same time frame. You can play Blizzard’s first-person shooter on the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
