Overwatch one tricking has become a major issue over the past few months, especially during the Mercy meta after a recent controversy, Blizzard has spoken up about banning one-trick players
Overwatch one tricking player gets banned
Just recently, player Fuey500 was banned for “disruptive gameplay” during a match. This player is the top-ranked Torbjob in the world is a one tricking player. That said, many people pointed out that the real reason behind his ban was because of his character choice.
The issue blew up on Reddit over the past few days, with many players fearing over the ban. That said, many people play Overwatch for different reasons. There are flex players who prefer switching heroes, while there are others who only play a certain class. Then there are other fans who prefer to play one hero. These types of fans feared that they would get banned for playing the game how they wanted to, but Blizzard has clarified the issue in a recent post.
Blizzard speaks up
Posting on the official forums, community manager John Engen addressed the issue and claimed that they are looking into the report and how it affects “specialized players.” He assured that they are taking both sides of the matter in consideration, but still believes that fans should play as a team and create an effective team composition.
There’s a very delicate balance around the issue as players must learn how to adjust for each other. Overwatch, at its core, is a team game and requires teamwork to win matches. Overwatch one tricking becomes an issue when a player cannot adjust to the team’s needs.
Nevertheless, it seems like Blizzard is looking into the matter and will probably try to think of a solution to the problem. Those who want to play the first-person shooter can get a copy for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
